We are always looking to enhance multi-modal forms of transportation and to alleviate downtown traffic congestion. Reduced downtown traffic allows for easier commutes, more downtown visitors, and overall a more thriving business environment. In addition to providing increased bike parking at Greenhound and funding for additional bike racks in the downtown, we have been working with the Nantucket Planning Office to encourage and facilitate the construction of a downtown link to the Island's bike path system. During the summers of 2012 and 2015, we commissioned interns to research possibilities for the Town's Downtown Bike Path project, as well as bike parking, and a new bike touring app, TrACK Nantucket. These interns monitored bike traffic to the downtown district and bike parking habits, and gave suggestions to ReMain and the Town in regards to future strategies for improving bike parking and navigation on the island.
